Returns on investment

Given that this service was borne from a requirement to figure out what worked, what didn't and what things would look like in the future, we thought it appropriate to list a few examples and announce the graphing feature (that some of you folks already discovered!). The data: We uploaded a few sample data sets to prove our point. All new registrants will have access to these (openly available) data sets. They include: - some stock data (opening, closing and volume information by date) - wine sales (of different varieties, again with some date information) - the classic weather dataset (some climate data, along with a variable that denotes whether we should 'play' or not) The Future!: Graphs! Yes. Now that we have some data, we can have a look at it in a few easy steps. The much requested graphing feature is now live, and we're pretty impressed with the results so far. If you have data with any date-time information in it, pifiq will try to figure out what happens in the future. You don't need to specify any algorithms or parameters. In (something like) three clicks, you will end up with some pretty and -- more importantly -- informative views of your data through time....and the possible future. For you math types, we'd tried to stay within p=0.05 or 95% confidence with our predictions. What about that "what-if" feature?: In a nutshell, this is where you get to explore the interactions between what you're interested in and other, potentially contributing factors. For example, we may be interested in our red wine sales numbers. So, we first build a model for it and then ask "how can we get above 1000"? This is 'diagnosis'. Plug in 1000 for red and the values of the other variables will be shown -- this is where hidden dependencies are exposed. It may turn out that there aren't any dependencies, but if there are, pifiq will expose them. White wine sales may indeed affect red wine sales. The flip side of the coin asks "what happens to my variable of interest when...". Plug in some values and it will throw out some values for the variable you modeled, in this case red wine sales. Enjoy. We've got more in the pipeline. And yes, it will simplify things even more. We set out to make insight and decisions easy. Thanks for hanging in there and giving us a fair shake. Cheers, The pifiq team
